The water tower was built in 1918 as a concrete frame construction and was the first building of its kind in Europe. Today he serves primarily as a storage area, but is still in use as a water reservoir. Our task was to have them collected in this building at the World Cultural Heritage Department of the architecture of the HTW with all its functional areas. The start was made in the project week of winter semester 2005/06, the further development took place in the summer term 2006.

The function of the existing structure, it is still to save water. Our aim was therefore to new architecture to flow in it. In order to bring the original with the new function in harmony, "dripping" with the Department of architecture, we carried the water tower through. We dropped from the top down, from level to level, by by blowing up the building, the old outer skin, tore down ceilings and created a permeable structure which retains its original character to the outside, but where you can clearly see where developed the new, upcoming generation of architects. All parts of the administration and organization, and the offices of the professors are in a newly designed building.
