Fun Birthday Candles Toronto

Technik und Ausrüstung

Karsten went with a custom built 2010s Trek Top Fuel 9.8. Caveat: The best bike I've ever driven!

Frame
Trek Top Fuel OCLV Red Carbon (size L),

Headset: Cane Creek IS- 3,
Seatpost Bontrager Race XXX Lite,
Fork: Fox F32 RL Fit,
shock: Fox Float RP 23
Super easy and super quick, drive-neutral, but very sensitive, rear sag is not together when he assumes - in short, the perfect race-fully! In my opinion the best marathon race-fully on the market. So easily and with this perfect rear-performance builds currently no competitors.
thanks to Fox: After my problems with the lockout began the race support during the Transalp the noble Fit cartridge. After that, everything went perfectly.

on the Transalp see very many riders on hardtails. I would in any case more Fully To drive as the sometimes very rough downhills are so much less to cope with stress. So a clear gain in safety and comfort!

wheels
Hubs: DT-Swiss 240s,

Rims: DT XR 4.2d,
Spokes DT Competition (with aluminum nipples),
Tires: Schwalbe Rocket Ron 2.25,
hoses: Bontrager X-light
The wheelset is not much to say: A proven classic in perfect function, I drive it for three years without re-centering and without any complaint. The tires run as they would lead to an engine: Geil! But: There are pure racing tires with little puncture protection, they need to rough turf to stone a knowledgeable source. The wear is high, they hold only about 1000km. There are on the Transalp also in dry weather always situations where you need grip. So I would go only tires with shoulder lugs, no semi-slicks. However, was represented on the Transalp anything, it depends very much on the preferences of the driver. At the first stage, I had the worst possible time when the first exit after the neutralization, a plate (punctures). Otherwise, the tires were perfect.
Suggestions for improvement: Cautious drivers or drivers who are uncertain in the downhill, should select a tire with more puncture protection. I drive on the next Transalp certainly a NoTubes wheelset (tubeless).

drive
Crankset: Aerozine X12-SL-Ti

BB: Trek BB90

Derailleur: Sram XO (2005)
Derailleur: Shimano XTR
Shifters: Sram XO trigger
pinion: SRAM PG 990 11 - 32
Chain: Sram PC 991
The drive is successful and went well: switching behavior, Accuracy: Topp. The only drawback: The crank scratched fairly quickly, but the function does not diminish.

My favorite brake, light was fading were sometimes unable to avoid a horde of bikers in runs with several meters, but no migratory pressure point. Super function defined biting.

Accessories

Bike Computer Sigma Rox 9.0
actually reliable, leaving him the spirits of the hail-storm departure for Madonna dC After consultation with Sigma I send him and hope very much that she read me the saved 7 stages can! Otherwise, good function, very informative and user-friendly, very good Auswertugssoftware.
suggestions: better protection from moisture

Bottle Holder Bontrager X-lite carbon
Despite its only 26 grams, it clamps the bottle well and safe - we owned any of the estimated 300 bottles, which we at critical Rüttelstellen on are the ground saw ...

SKS Airgun CO2 Cartridge
Small, light, fast: functional super pumped up in a few seconds. Tip: take 2 tires for fillings 3 cartridges! Very careful driver to also take a mini-pump.

saddle bag Vaude Race Light M
do their job, have it for safety with a pedal strap (all under 30: What is the ... secured ;-), because I use the velcro the Rüttelabfahrten had not thought possible. What was in it: hose, self-adhesive patches from Park Tool (hold until the end of the stage), with four links of chain, shift cable, 2 chain locks

mini tool Bontrager Rollbar 18
Very good, very lightweight tool with everything you need. Clever: A chain lock can be in a microbox stowed in the tool.

Mini-drinking Deuter Race Light
Whether you go with or without a backpack, is a question of faith. In our view, one should always have the following: arm warmers, rain jacket, wind vest, cell phone, money, bandages. In really bad weather must be added knee warmers and ¾ rain pants. This is not to act without a backpack. You have to make clear that the Transalp is 600 km long, of which several kilometers above 2000 meters. There, the clocks tick differently. We have spent almost every single piece of equipment and also used, including the first-aid kit, as we helped a fallen rider in the final descent to Scuol. Since I have in a reasonable position just a bottle on the bike, I needed the bladder.
